3. Why do all the diacritics look funny when I copy and paste text from the Bhaktivedanta VedaBase®?
a) You need to format your text in a diacritic font such as ScaGoudy or Balaram.
b) Check to see if the diacritic fonts are installed.

4. Why do I get the message "Insufficient Security to Perform Operation"?

You cannot make any changes to the original Bhaktivedanta VedaBase® file. If you wish to personalize the Bhaktivedanta VedaBase®, you need to do it through a shadow File. Shadow files are opened by default in the Bhaktivedanta VedaBase® version 2003.1 and higher. So if you get an above mentioned message it means that you have opened the original NFO, rather than the shadow file. You will know that you are in the shadow file, when the title bar displays (Shadow).

5. What is a Shadow File?

A shadow File is a file which contains your additions to an infobase (such as notes, highlighters etc.). A good analogy is to consider a shadow file to be like a clear cellophane sheet (or sheets) which can be placed over a book and onto which you can scribble your notes without scribbling on the book itself. When you place the cellophane sheet over a page of a book, you can see your notes on the sheet and also the text of the book underneath. You can have many different cellophane sheets for different projects, but the book remains untouched.
